Vanessa found yoga during her sophomore year at Lake Erie College in 2012, and completed her 200-hour Hatha and 200 hour Vinyasa certifications in 2015 and 2016 respectively with Awaken Yoga.

Like many yogis, Vanessa started practicing yoga to gain flexibility and find relaxation; she learned very quickly that yoga is so much more than the physical practice and found her symptoms related to anxiety, depression, and vasovagal syncope decreased, while her spirituality and inner peace increased. Almost instantly, Vanessa knew that she wanted to share the practice of yoga with others and act as a guide for each student’s journey!

In 2013, Vanessa took over the Lake Erie College yoga club until she graduated in 2015. After completing her first certification, she began teaching a variety of classes at Awaken Yoga until the summer of 2018. At this time, Vanessa took a couple months off from teaching to reconnect to her own practice and dive inward through a variety of yoga classes, workshops, and self-guided research. It was during this time Vanessa found Elements Studios! In addition to teaching at Elements, Vanessa also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Lake Erie College, teaching yoga classes to students.

Vanessa’s intent is to meet students where they are at and light a fire within: whether it is physical, emotional, or spiritual. Vanessa’s classes are often times a combination of sweat, laughter, good tunes, and whatever is inspiring her that day: crystals, astrology, poetry, tarot, or other yoga teachers!

Why Elements Studios?

I started seeing Elements pop up on my social media through a variety of collaborations with other studios and yoga teachers in the Cleveland area.  What really stood out to me was the focus of unity in the yoga community. Yoga literally means “to yoke” or “to join” and nothing seemed more yogic to me than supporting fellow studios and teachers. I followed Elements on Facebook and Instagram and learned more about what they have to offer.  Something told me, “Oh, this is going to be cool.” A few weeks later, I saw they were still looking for some yoga teachers and I just knew I had to reach out because I wanted to be a part of something that I believe will really bring the yoga, wellness and fitness, communities together!

If you had to sum up your teaching style in one word, what would it be and why?

Incendiary. Meaning, designed to cause fires. Astrologically speaking, I have a lot of fire and air in my birth chart so I’m naturally a pretty fiery person, but I like to spark a flame in my students.

What makes your instruction unique?

My instruction is a melting pot of a lot of different inspiration mixed with my intuition. I like to provide a space in my classes where anybody can come in and have a practice that is accessible to where they are on their journey.
