Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lisa LaBanc, Owner of Elements Fitness Studios, located in Chesterland, OH, USA.
What’s your business, and who are your customers?
Elements Fitness Studios is a one-of-a-kind state-of-the-art fitness studio. The studio is like something you would find in NYC or LA. The offerings are all instructor-led classes that include yoga, barre, cycling, climbing, boot camps, workshops, wellness events, massage, and so much more. The facility also has a smoothie and a wine, yes, a wine bar! Our customers are anyone looking for a workout space where they feel right at home.
Tell us about yourself
I am a serial entrepreneur, and fitness and wellness, mind and body, have always been my passion. Elements was a vision on my radar many years ago and came to fruition in 2019. The studio is an extended representation of all things in life that I feel are important to living well. When you walk through the enormous oversized steel front door, you’ll feel embraced in the luxurious, comforting surroundings. I chose every piece of furniture, decor, and bathroom accessory down to the grout in the tile to offer a “wow” kind experience. I am a true believer that what you put out into the universe will return to you. I wanted to create a space where I could teach others how to make this happen in their world. That is what motivates me every day, and it is my work in progress.
What’s your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is never to let defeat win! Owning a business is a series of never-ending ups & downs, wins & losses, accomplishments & better luck next time, but you always have to remember that there will always be another wave to ride, and after every storm, the sun always comes back out.
What’s one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is being able to delegate and trust others. As the owner of a business, you will wear all the hats, but you also need to know that you cannot do everything yourself. Sometimes it seems easier to just do it yourself rather than teach someone else or trust someone else, but if you’re going to grow and be successful, you cannot do everything yourself!
What are the top tips you’d give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Trust your instincts.
Don’t let others beat down your ideas.
Do your research.
Where can people find you and your business?
